The Salina, Kansas project in 2008 was the first of these; the Art Center there helped set up discussion seminars with residents from widely-varied ages and backgrounds. I recorded their comments and projected them on the opposite walls as well as creating a workstation with resident maps and drawings; the comments were periodically rotated; the exhibition was oriented in a north-south-east-west configuration with the cinder blocks and drawings representing that direction. The construction site drawings are placed consistently with their location in town. The blocks are placed according to what part of town residents wanted to see more growth; Salina's growth is almost all on the south side (reflected in the drawings), but its citizens voted to reverse that trend.
